The Best Double Stroller for Two Under Two: Our 13-Month Age Gap Lifesaver
I really love this stroller.
And right now, I don't use the word "lifesaver" lightly.
My husband is currently deployed, which means most outings with our newborn and 14-month-old are on me. Getting two babies, all of their stuff and myself out the door is an accomplishment before we've even gone anywhere.
With only a 13-month age gap, both of my kids really need a stroller.
My older baby is still very much a stroller rider. My newborn obviously needs a safe, comfortable place to ride. And then there's everything that comes along with two kids this little.
That's where our Austlen Entourage has made such a difference.
It's sturdy. It's incredibly roomy. I can load it with what feels like half our house. And, most importantly, it makes getting out with two under two feel a whole lot more manageable.
For this season of our lives, it's absolutely our best double stroller.
With Two Under Two, I Need Two Real Seats
When people talk about strollers for siblings, there's often an assumption that the older child can walk or hop onto a standing board.
That doesn't work when your age gap is 13 months.
My 14-month-old is still a baby, too.
That's one reason the Entourage works so well for us. With the Second Seat attached, both kids can have traditional stroller seating.
The Primary Seat is rated from birth up to 65 pounds, and it can recline into an enclosed bassinet mode for a newborn. The Second Seat is designed from 6 months up to 40 pounds.
So right now, when both of my kids genuinely need to sit, the Entourage works as a true double.
But that's not where its usefulness ends.
The Most Versatile Stroller for a 13-Month Age Gap
The funny thing about having two kids so close together is that their needs overlap tremendously right now, but they won't forever.
Today, I need two traditional seats.
As my newborn grows, both kids will continue to have traditional seating available.
Then, as my older child becomes more independent, we can switch from the Second Seat to the Sit + Stand. That gives my bigger kid a Jump Seat for sitting and an integrated Platform Rider for standing, rated up to 75 pounds.
Eventually, when only my youngest needs to ride, we can remove the rear seating altogether and retract the stroller back to its single footprint.
That's what makes the Entourage the most versatile stroller to me.
I'm not buying a stroller that solves one very specific problem for one very short stage.
I'm using the configuration that works for our family right now, knowing I can change it as our 13-month age gap starts to feel very different.
The Extra Space Is Everything When I'm Doing This Alone
Here's the other thing I love:
The space.
With a newborn and 14-month-old, there is no such thing as traveling light.
Diapers for two.
Wipes.
Bottles.
Snacks.
Extra outfits.
Blankets.
Toys.
My own things.
And whatever else I suddenly realize I need once we're already out of the house.
When my husband is deployed, there isn't another adult beside me carrying half of it.
So yes, I absolutely stuff our stroller.
The Entourage's lower storage basket is rated to hold up to 70 pounds, while the included Market Tote adds another 30 pounds of dedicated cargo capacity. The entire stroller is rated for up to 200 pounds of kids + cargo.
That kind of capacity changes the way I use a stroller.
Instead of carefully deciding what will fit underneath, I can pack what I actually need.
For errands, longer outings and especially travel, that extra room makes life with two tiny kids considerably easier.
A Sturdy Double Stroller That I Can Still Get Into the Trunk
I'll also say something that might be obvious the moment you see the Entourage:
This isn't an ultralight travel stroller.
It's definitely on the sturdier side.
But after actually living with it, I've realized that stroller weight and how difficult a stroller is to load aren't necessarily the same thing.
The Entourage is designed so I can stand the folded stroller behind my vehicle and roll it into the cargo area rather than awkwardly supporting the entire stroller's weight while I try to maneuver it into the trunk.
That makes a big difference when I'm already doing everything myself.
With the Primary Seat and Second Seat, the Entourage weighs about 36.5 pounds. That's right in the range of other full-size single-to-double strollers once they're actually configured with two traditional seats.
So yes, it's substantial.
But it also carries two little kids, an enormous amount of gear, and rolls easily in and out of our trunk.
For me, that's a tradeoff I'll happily make.
How Popular Single-to-Double Strollers Compare
When I think about the best stroller for two under two, I don't just want to compare the weight of an empty stroller frame.
I want to know what I'm actually pushing when it's configured for two kids, how much those seats can hold and how much room I'll have for everything that comes with them.

| Dedicated storage capacity | 70-lb lower basket + 30-lb included Market Tote | 30-lb basket | 22-lb basket |
| Total kids + cargo capacity | 200 lbs — manufacturer published | ~120 lbs — calculated from published seat + basket limits | 120 lbs — manufacturer manual maximum |
| Weight with two traditional seats | 36.5 lbs | ~36.4 lbs* | ~39.4 lbs† |
*Vista double weight is an independently measured figure rather than a combined weight published by UPPAbaby.
†DEMI next figure is calculated using Nuna's published 26-lb stroller weight + approximately 3.4 lbs for the components excluded from that weight + its published 10-lb Sibling Seat weight.
What stands out to me isn't that the Entourage is a lightweight stroller. It isn't.
It's how much capability I'm getting for a stroller that's in the same general weight class as other full-size doubles.
Two Babies Now, Different Needs Later
When you're in the newborn-and-one-year-old stage, it's easy to shop entirely around what you need today.
Because today is a lot.
But that 13-month age gap is going to look completely different surprisingly soon.
My 14-month-old will become a toddler who wants more independence while my youngest still needs the stroller.
That's where I think I'll appreciate the Entourage even more.
Instead of adding an external standing board, the Entourage's Sit + Stand gives my older child two choices: sit on the Jump Seat or stand on the integrated Platform Rider.
And when we use the Sit + Stand, it can remain attached when I fold the stroller, just like the Second Seat can now.
So I don't have to choose between something that works for two under two today and something that will work for a bigger toddler and younger sibling later.
It's the same stroller.
Why It's Our Best Stroller for Two Under Two
For our family, these are the features that make the Entourage our best double stroller, most versatile stroller and best stroller for two under two:
- Two true stroller seats when both kids are little, with a Primary Seat rated from birth to 65 lbs and Second Seat from 6 months to 40 lbs
- Bassinet mode built into the Primary Seat, giving our newborn room to lie flat without requiring a separate bassinet
- Infant car seat compatibility, giving us another useful newborn configuration with the appropriate adapter
- Huge cargo capacity, with a 70-lb lower basket and included 30-lb Market Tote
- 200-lb total kids + cargo capacity, giving us room for two children and all the gear that comes with them
- Expandable and retractable patented frame, so I can create more room when I need it and retract the stroller when I don't
- Second Seat folds with the stroller, so going double doesn't mean storing a loose second seat separately in the trunk
- Sit + Stand for the next stage, with both a Jump Seat and integrated Platform Rider rated up to 75 lbs (that also folds with the stroller)
- Easy vehicle loading, because the folded stroller can stand behind the vehicle and roll into the cargo area rather than requiring me to support its full weight
- Configurations that change with our kids, which matters tremendously when two children only 13 months apart move through stages so quickly
One Stroller That Makes Two Under Two Feel More Manageable
There are plenty of things I can't make easier about having a newborn and 14-month-old while my husband is deployed.
Someone will need a diaper the second we're ready to leave.
Someone will inevitably want something I left across the house.
And I'm pretty sure the amount of stuff required for two babies violates some law of mathematics.
But our stroller?
That part is easier.
I can put both kids somewhere comfortable.
I can stuff an unbelievable amount of gear underneath them.
I can roll the stroller in and out of our trunk without wrestling with it.
And I know that when my two babies aren't quite so baby anymore, I won't immediately need a different stroller.
For a 13-month age gap, that's exactly the kind of flexibility I was hoping for.
I really love this stroller.
And during a season when I'm handling so much with two little ones on my own, our Entourage has genuinely been a lifesaver.
