JOB DESCRIPTION

Austlen™ Baby Co. is an exciting growth-stage start-up in the juvenile products industry. We are seeking to fill our digital marketing and social media manager position with a positive, enthusiastic, talented person who drives for results, has a strong work ethic, and can both create and execute. Our digital marketing and social media manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s online presence, digital marketing campaigns, and social media content and development, with the goal of increasing Austlen’s online audience, community and engagement. This position requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment with diverse responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with director of marketing to develop digital marketing and social media strategy and plan
  • Implement activities per the plan including online and social media campaigns, which engage and expand customer awareness, understanding, enthusiasm, and adoption of company brand and product lines
  • Cultivate brand loyalty through online initiatives that elevate and connect customers with Austlen
  • Manage and grow Austlen’s online presence through company website and social media channels
  • Monitor and improve Austlen’s presence on all authorized retailer websites
  • Develop and implement social media editorial calendar and online campaign roadmap in line with overarching sales and marketing strategy, calendar of events and initiatives
  • Create impactful content, posts and messaging in line with Austlen’s brand and voice that engage audiences
  • Monitor and moderate all online conversations and user-generated content, tracking trends in topics and questions, and involving relevant Austlen teams as required to resolve customer support issues
  • Manage content and design of Austlen’s website by working with web team to ensure accuracy and reflection of brand, refreshing testimonials and replacing product descriptions, photography, and other content as needed
  • Understand, recommend and implement organic versus paid digital marketing and social media tools and initiatives
  • Measure results and track learnings for continuous improvement
  • Manage multiple projects and deliverables to successful completion under tight deadlines
  • Work with external agencies to develop digital assets, including creation and editing of social media posts, online advertising and promotional assets
  • Execute promotional partnerships and co-marketing activities across Austlen’s online platforms
  • Monitor industry trends in social media, acting as the subject matter expert within the brand
  • Investigate, understand and recommend social media monitoring software to ensure accurate analysis and reporting to improve future engagement
  • Execute against digital marketing and social media KPIs that measure effectiveness of online promotional campaigns, advertisements, social posts and brand outreach
  • Execute special projects and attend Austlen events as needed to support the busines

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, online marketing, or other related field
  • Minimum 3 years of digital marketing, social media, and community management experience with consumer goods – wholesale or retail
  • Possess a deep understanding of how to engage audiences through creative content and impactful messaging and an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, YouTube, Periscope, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Ability to turn marketing strategy and objectives into successful online executions
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and drawing conclusions to improve future activities
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a relentless drive to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • True team player who collaborates, takes initiative, and prioritizes team over self to achieve goals
  • Curiosity and appreciation of different people’s views and opinions

    Merchandiser / Trainer - New York

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Austlen™ Baby Co. is an exciting growth-stage start-up in the juvenile products industry. We are seeking to fill our merchandiser/trainer position with an enthusiastic, optimistic individual who has a strong work ethic, possesses great problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and has the ability to juggle multiple tasks with a great level of attention to detail. This position has responsibility for delivering outstanding training and customer service to our retailers and requires a versatile individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment with diverse responsibilities.

    As a merchandiser/trainer you will be responsible for demonstrating Austlen products for consumers, training sales staff and executing/maintaining visual merchandising according to Austlen standards to increase sell through of our products to both retailers and consumers. You will act as a link between Austlen’s sales team, consumers, and retail partners, providing feedback and proactively suggesting new approaches for elevating in-store merchandising and increasing sales velocity.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrate and sell Austlen products at retail partner stores (demo days) and consumer fairs according to Austlen strategy and standards
    • Train and advise sales staff of retail partners on Austlen product offering
    • Ensure execution of merchandising according to Austlen standards and proactively provide guidance and suggestions for elevating in-store merchandising presence
    • Complete mandatory reporting on training, demonstration and consumer fair activities as required
    • Provide support for sales initiatives as required
    • Provide support and execution for consumer and trade shows including but not limited to:
      • Procurement of booth props, furniture, refreshments, etc.
      • Set up and tear down of booth props and furniture
      • Transportation of booth materials
      • Collecting and compiling attendee contact information
      • Working with logistics team to coordinate any on-site receiving and shipping of booth supplies
    • Other duties as necessary and appropriate

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 1 year retail and/or training experience

      Senior Engineer / Project Leader

      JOB DESCRIPTION

      Austlen™ Baby Co. is an exciting start-up in the juvenile products industry. We are seeking to fill our senior engineer / project leader position with a positive, enthusiastic, talented engineer who drives for results, has a strong work ethic, and has the ability to both design and lead teams through robust product development. Our senior engineer / project leader will report to Austlen’s CTO and will be responsible for overseeing projects from concept ideation, through component/system level design and development, to final production. The main purpose of this role is to facilitate good cross-functional communication between engineering, marketing and other key business functions to drive successful new product development and facilitate sustaining engineering for all product platforms. This position requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment with diverse responsibilities.

      POSITION PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Lead the development of innovative new products that exceed customer expectations as well as quality and financial requirements 
      • Define and manage project schedules, resource plans, and project deliverables 
      • Coordinate and ensure the completion of work activities among internal and external team members 
      • Nurture the development of innovative concepts and new ideas to improve product performance and simplify product designs 
      • Ability to review product viability in terms of consumer use and assembly, manufacturability, and product and capital cost requirements 
      • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring deliverables are executed on time, to cost, and performance and quality goals are achieved 
      • Invent top-level and subsystem concepts (e.g., mechanisms), build quick mockups to validate feasibility, and coordinate fabrication of working prototypes 
      • Create mechanical part and assembly designs using parametric 3D CAD tools, with emphasis on aesthetic design intent implementation and developing internal component layouts, stack-ups and space studies as necessary. Job will require 3D CAD modeling in Pro/E approximately 30% of the individual’s time 
      • Possess an understanding of industry and government compliance standards and the ability to design products that meet and exceed these standards 
      • Define mechanical reliability test procedures to validate performance goals, verifying compliance with applicable safety certifications, coordinate testing and compile documentation of results 
      • Generate and oversee comprehensive engineering product specifications, quality and audit plans and engineering drawings 
      • Organize and lead project update presentations and design reviews, preparing visual materials for describing complex engineering concepts for cross-functional and external teams 
      • Collaborate with overseas manufacturing, including production line auditing, production control documentation review, vendor qualifying and engineering co-development 
      • Manage projects being designed, developed and implemented by outside firms and outside suppliers 
      • Search patent databases to identify potential IP infringement risks and champion patent protection application for new ideas 
      • Prepare and present monthly project status reports to the executive team 
      • Proactively lead and mentor team members, sharing new design engineering insights and promoting a positive team environment

      POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      • Recognized engineering degree in mechanical engineering or a design engineering-related field 
      • 6+ years of experience designing products in a consumer-oriented industry; juvenile experience is a plus 
      • 2+ years of experience leading product development projects in a team environment 
      • Experience detailing project plans in Microsoft Project or similar software 
      • Excellent people skills and experience mentoring engineers and designers on good design practices 
      • Proven proficiency in engineering areas of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, mechanism design, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and FMEA 
      • Past experience designing complex mechanical products using 3D CAD software such as Pro/Engineer Wildfire 
      • Senior level and above engineering skills in plastic part design and development 
      • Experience working with industrial designers and integrating industrial design Intent into products 
      • Experience working with suppliers in Asia 
      • Willingness and ability to travel internationally 2-3 times per quarter 
      • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills 
      • Proven ability to work well under pressure 
      • Experience working in all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

      • Past industry-related experience
